The Second Conference of the International Association of Jesuit Engineering Schools (IAJES), in Colombia, is a reunion of Jesuit engineering schools. It is envisioned to facilitate, enter, and continue deeper mutual knowledge with the hope of increasing collaboration all around the world. Every participating engineering school will have the opportunity to present itself in a dynamic way, attend talks by renowned speakers of the Jesuit community, and be part of several workshops and discussions. In the end, this event will allow to detect the strengths and expectations of each institution in order to imagine paths of co-working. Also, this is an opportunity to discover the Javeriana university, and get an understanding of the Colombian context and its role in the Colombian society from the ignatian charism and mission viewpoints.

This effort is part of a broader initiative is both a response to call from Pope Franciscus and Society of Jesus, especially through his secretary for higher education, Fr. Michael Garanzini: there is the need for the expression of a strong shared desire to foster fruitful links of communion and cooperation among our Jesuit engineering schools.
I am pleased to invite you to the Second Conference of the International Association of Engineering Schools (IAJES) to be held in Colombia (07/17 - 07/20 in Cali). This is a magical country with a colorful blend of diverse cultures, and a strong agricultural and industrial tradition.

Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, with its two campuses in Bogotá and Cali, is the venue of this reunion. In the Second IAJES Conference, every participating engineering school will have the opportunity to showcase engineering-based knowledge with the hope of increasing collaboration among Jesuit institutions. The Conference is served by a Pre-Conference in Bogotá (07/15 - 07/17) with the attractive to discover Colombia's capital city through cultural activities and a visit to the Javeriana campus.

The Second IAJES Conference will focus on realities around paths of collaboration in the field of research, in the training of engineers able to promote social justice, in the development of frugal innovation, and in fostering the spiritual depth of the engineers promoted by our institutions.

Finally, this is also an opportunity to visit Bogotá and Cali, cities you do not want to miss, full of friendly, welcoming people, cultural richness, and many touristic attractions.
